Electrical Safety Month

For over 20 years the month of May has been dedicated to Electrical Safety. Far too many instances go by where lives are interrupted due to dangerous electrical accidents. During this month the Electrical Safety Foundation tries to bring as much awareness and education as they can to electrical safety.

Since air conditioners use a great deal of electricity, All Year Cooling has decided to dedicate the month of May to electrical safety as well. There are many risks that come along with using electricity, and many times they are overlooked. Neglecting and not taking into account safety measures when it comes to using electricity can be extremely harmful and dangerous. All Year Cooling has put together tips and guidelines for using electricity safely and properly. Although many people assume they are using electricity correctly, it does no harm to brush up on these safety measures.

Below are some tips for electrical safety when it comes to HVAC maintenance:

  • Make sure all fuel-burning hearing equipment is vented to the outside without obstruction
  • Replace your air filters at least every 90 days
  • Keep intake and output vents clean and clear of any debris and dust
  • Some heating appliances may produce carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas that is tasteless, colorless and odorless. Protect your home with carbon monoxide alarms and test them monthly to ensure they are working properly
  • Have your HVAC system inspected by a qualified inspector yearly to make sure they are running at optimal efficiency
