Where to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2017

Posted on Fort Lauderdale, Holidays, The Cooler Blog March 10, 2017

If you are looking for something to do on or around March 17th, look no further. We have selected a list of locales and events in South Florida with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Whether you are looking for family fun at a parade, a lesson in Irish cooking, or a night of drinks on a yacht, we’ve got you covered.

Boca Raton

Prepare to savor the holiday with a cooking class featuring an Irish dinner from Publix’s Aprons Cooking School. The class takes place at the Publix at Polo Club Shoppes on Champion Boulevard on Saturday, March 11th at 6:30 pm. On the menu, Irish soda bread and Irish cheddar fondue, parsley potato soup with sausage, corned beef and cabbage, and buttermilk scone with Irish Chantilly cream. Are you drooling yet?

Fort Lauderdale

One of the largest annual festivals in Fort Lauderdale happens downtown on Saturday, March 11th. The St. Patrick’s Parade and
Festival attracts huge crowds for its celebration of the Emerald Isle and its culture. If you’re up for a race, then show up early (7:30 am) to run the Celtic 4 Miler. Otherwise, the parade starts at the corner of E Las Olas Boulevard and SE 5th Avenue around 10:00 am.

Hollywood has a St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival complete with Irish music, food from local vendors, and floats. The event kicks off downtown at noon with the parade at 1:00 pm on Sunday, March 12th. If you appreciate traditional music, you won’t want to miss the New York Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Corps.

Marco Island

If you find yourself on Marco Island on March 8th, then head to Bald Eagle Drive to catch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Celebration. It runs from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and promises to be an entertaining event for the whole family to enjoy.

For those of you who would rather grab a pint or two in the public-house, then you can find St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and shepherd’s pie in a number of fine establishments throughout the city. Starting at 6:00 pm, American Social in Miami is hosting an event at their pub on the Riverwalk by SW 1st Court.  Celebrate the night away with live music and drink specials.

Because true celebrations of St. Patrick are not for landlubbers, Island Queen Cruises is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day event on the 17th with a cruise aboard Our Miami Lady, boarding at 9:00 pm. Guests aboard the cruise will enjoy unlimited beer and wine with a cash liquor bar, a variety of Irish-influenced hors-d’oeuvres, and local DJ talent. Bring your sea legs.

However you choose to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, have a good time and stay safe!
