Summer Air Conditioning Tips & Tricks

Posted on The Cooler Blog June 12, 2012

Summer is almost upon us, and with this brings many factors that could put stress on your Air Conditioning System, including:
• Excessive use causing issues
• Clogged filters that require more constant cleaning
• Damage due to a Hurricane or Storm
• Much more

Because of this, we offer many tips and tricks to help keep you cool while not taxing your A/C Unit too much, including:
• Try setting your thermostat between 72°F & 78°F. Each degree setting below 78°F that you set the system will actually increase your energy consumption by up to 8%
• Keep your house closed tight during the day and don’t let in unwanted heat and humidity.
• Try ventilating your house at night using fans
• Set your A/C System thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer. The less difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the lower your overall cooling bill will be
• Don’t place lamps or televisions near your air conditioners’ thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air conditioner to run longer than necessary
• Check your unit’s air filter once a month and clean or replace filters as necessary. Keeping the filter clean can lower your air A/C System energy consumption by up to 15%
