Energy Star’s Guide to Hiring a Heating and Cooling Contractor

Posted on News September 29, 2010

In their 10 Tips for Hiring a Heating and Cooling Contractor, Energy Star recommends to “Study up”. This means looking up licensing and insurance requirements for contractors and knowing the model number of your current equipment to help the contractor understand your needs. All Year Cooling displays all licensing information on its website and is a fully insured contractor.

The second and third tips are, “Ask for referrals” and “Call references”. All Year Cooling will provide references from past customers so you can get a better idea of the service we provide.

Tips four and five state to “Find special offers” and “Look for ENERGY STAR”. The special offers part is easy with All Year Cooling because, as we always say, if we cannot beat another company’s written estimate, we will give you the air conditioner for FREE. Guaranteed. We also offer a wide variety of ENERGY STAR products to help you reduce your energy costs.

Tips six and seven recommend to “Expect a home evaluation” and “Get written, itemized estimates”. We will provide you with a tentative estimate over the phone, but will always personally inspect your home to ensure that you are getting the right equipment to fit your house. We will also provide you with a written estimate for your review.

The next tip says to “Get it in ink”. This means to sign a proposal before the work gets started. It goes on, “It’ll protect you by specifying project costs, model numbers, job schedule and warranty information.” The next two tips recommend telling your friends about ENERGY STAR and getting the ENERGY STAR Guide.

Call us for more information about the ENERGY STAR products we offer. One of our air conditioning experts will guide you through the process of choosing a new air conditioning system for your home.
