Since taking over as the cleanup hitter, all-star second baseman and All Year Cooling sponsor Dan Uggla has been among the National League’s top hitters. He’s now hit 27 homeruns (seventh most in the game), 81 runs (tied for sixth in the game), 75 RBIs and is batting .291, nine points higher than his career high of .282 in his rookie season. Uggla ranks in the top 10 in the NL in each of the first three categories, and is tied for 18th in batting average. He’s also on an eight game hitting streak since going 3 for 4 against St. Louis on August 7. Last night, he was also 3 for 4 and added an RBI.
Uggla will again lead the Fish from the cleanup spot tonight in Pittsburgh. Many are already speculating that Uggla is playing well enough to be considered for a Silver Slugger Award, as well as the NL MVP award handed out at the end of the season. All Year Cooling continues to be impressed by Uggla’s fantastic season and are proud and thankful to be associated with one of the game’s premier second basemen.
