Common Air Conditioning Problems

Posted on AC Repair, AC Tips July 17, 2019

When you live in Riviera Beach FL, your air conditioning is something of a lifeline as far as comfort is concerned. If your system isn’t working right, it can be easy to become frustrated and uncomfortable in your own home. This is why it’s important to know some of the common problems that many homeowners face with their air conditioning systems.

Before you call for AC Repair in Riviera Beach FL, read the following common issues and what needs to be done in order to fix them.

Your Air Conditioner Won’t Turn on At All

This one happens to a lot of homeowners and can lead to a quick panic on a hot day. When your AC won’t turn on at all, this is typically a problem with your thermostat. Check on your thermostat to see if it’s still on and working by setting your temperature down a bit. Once you do this, check your electric panel to see if there’s a tripped breaker or even a blown fuse. These issues tend to be in the wiring, so pay close attention to that.

Air Won’t Come Out of the Vents

While it can be frustrating when no air is coming out of the vents, this is actually one of the more straightforward problems to have. Typically, this can be fixed by, yet again, checking on breaker to see if anything tripped or if something needs to be reset. The blower belt may also need to be replaced, which can easily be done by a professional.

The Vents Are Blowing Room Temperature/Warm Air

When you escape the hot weather of the outdoors, it can seem like a betrayal to feel room temperature or even warmer air coming out of your vents. A good thing to check in these cases is your air filters. Filters that have a large buildup of dust and debris can restrict airflow, causing your air conditioning unit to work harder than it needs to, even resulting in it shorting out. Avoid this altogether by replacing your air filter every 1-3 months.

The AC Cools Your Home Unevenly

It’s very strange to be comfortable in one room and nearly sweating in the next. Faulty ductwork is often the cause for some rooms being too hot or too cold compared to the rest. If your ducts have cracks or any vents are blocked, this will prevent cool air from properly circulating through your home. It’s recommended that during your next AC tune-up, you ask your technician to inspect your home’s ducts.
