As it does every year, summer 2016 is winding down and the thoughts of back to school preparations are creeping in. With the 2016-2017 school year in sight, make the last few weeks of summer count with these great local, family-friendly events happening throughout South Florida.

For Nature Lovers:

Sea Turtle Treks
From June 16th through August 27th every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night you may have the rare opportunity to stumble across newborn sea turtles making their way into the ocean after hatching. The night starts off with an informative presentation, and then tour guides will take you to the known sea turtle nests along Fort Lauderdale Beach. If you’re lucky enough to catch newly hatched turtles, you’ll get to witness volunteers help to safely guide the babies to the ocean. They even assist any stragglers that may head towards the city lights by accident. Admission is $25.00 and all proceeds go to help fund the rescue. Not only will you be helping to support sea turtle preservation efforts, it is an incredible experience for families and children of all ages.
