16 Cool Songs About America (Number 2 Is A Guilty Pleasure)

Posted on Blogs June 30, 2014 by Mike Smith

July 4th is a time to fire up the grill, watch fireworks with family, and express your love for our country. If you read our Father’s Day post or follow us on Facebook, you know we’re all about spending quality time with loved ones. The incredible firework shows around town and backyard gatherings are a perfect excuse to make happy memories with the people most important in your lives, and that’s what we plan on doing this Fourth Of July. Here’s a link to find out where you can watch fireworks in South Florida.

On a sillier note, over-the-top patriotism can be shown in many ways– red-white-and-blue swimming gear, mini USA flags, temporary face tattoos, or bottle rockets (please be safe)… just to name a few. In the office, we enjoy showcasing our love for America through song (thankfully, not any of us singing). We surveyed the entire team over the last couple days to find out everyone’s favorite songs about USA and this blog post is just 16 of the responses.

If you don’t make it through the whole post, we’d like to wish you and your family a very happy Fourth Of July.

1. Born In the U.S.A. – Bruce Springsteen

All lists about patriotic songs should start with this song. More than a couple team member chose this song as their go-to July 4th ditty.

2. Party in the USA – Miley Cyrus

We promised anonymity to the installer guy staff member who picked this “classic” Miley Cyrus song. Don’t worry _ _ _ _ _, you’re secret is safe with us.

3. American Woman – Lenny Kravitz

The anthem for our country’s women and/or driving down Route 66.

4. America – West Side Story

Someone in the office is a fan of musicals (jazz hands).

5. American Pie – Don McLean

Good for Fourth Of July BBQs and piano bars.

6. Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue – Toby Keith

A couple of staff members are fresh off attending country music fest Tortuga Festival on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The 1st of 3 country music songs…

7. God Bless the USA – Lee Greenwood

Maybe thee most American song of all time, and not surprisingly, one of the most popular choices among our team.

8. American Soldier – Toby Keith

Mr Keith gets a second entry in our list. This one focuses on our troops.

9. Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd

The song pairs nicely with America flag swimming trunks.

10. Home – Dierks Bentley

The last country song in our list, soak it in country music fans.

11. Warrior – Kid Rock

Surprisingly, Kid Rock’s All Summer Long wasn’t picked over this entry. Another song for the troops…

12. California Girls – Beach Boys

The quintessential patriotic song for the beach (we’re guessing there’s a good chance you’ll be on a beach this Friday). We just wish it was titled Florida Girls.

13. American Girl – Tom Petty

The alternative female anthem to Lenny Kravitz’ American Woman

14. American Boy – Estelle feat. Kanye West

An edgier addition to the list.

15. New York New York – Frank Sinatra

New York City-transplants love to blast this song. Pairs nicely with a few leg kicks.

16. Ragged Old Flag – Johnny Cash

Last but not least, a song by the Man In Black

Whether you’re spending the day with friends at a BBQ or with family on the beach, the All Year Cooling team would like to wish you a very joyous July 4th celebration.

What are some songs that you would add to this list?
